4 years ago, I was attacked and I had to defend myself in my own home.

Couldn’t have asked for a better solicitor than Martin. After being dropped by a previous solicitor due to a conflict of interest, I was left feeling gutted and uncertain about what to do next. Nearly four years ago, my life was turned upside down when I was extradited to the UK and charged with three counts of fraud, launching me into a legal and emotional turmoil that I could never have anticipated. It was during this tumultuous time that I had the fortune of being introduced to Martin Tracy, not realising then how crucial a figure he would become in my life.

Facing legal challenges is daunting, especially when compounded by the severe health issues I was suffering and the pain of separation from my family, given my residence outside the UK. I would like to take this moment to write about Martin Tracy. I got arrested on the 24/04/2021 and first met Martin in the police station. I was put on bail for a month and Martin kept in touch and then I was remanded in custody. Martin went above and beyond to do everything he could to help, this included travelling all the way to Peterborough to visit me and go through my case with me and take my instructions. Martin kept in touch with my family and reassured them about everything which I’m very grateful for. He was kind, caring and very understanding.

I had not been through anything like this before and was so worried of the outcome but with Martin, he made me feel so much better and I was confident with talking to him about anything, he made me feel at ease and reassured me that I was going to be okay. Martin was honest and so down to earth with me.

My trial lasted 4 months and was a murder trial which got dropped to manslaughter and was actually dropped on me half-way through my trial, because of the amazing barristers, Danny Robinson QC and Nick Robinson, both from 5 Kings Bench Wal who Martin provided me with and all their hard work. Martin even took the time to sit through trial with me when he did not have too. Martin re-assurred me the whole time that during my ordeal.

When I first got charged, I had murder, joint enterprise , criminal damage and 2 x ABH, my trial has now come to an end and all I have been convicted of is an ABH, which Martin and my barristers advised me to go guilty for at the start of my trial, as I admitted this in my interview.

To have solicitor who was always available to help me in any situation, that arose at the current time is truly amazing and Martin’s friendly approach made everything calm in a horrendous situation

In June 2016, my wife and were arrested on allegations of money laundering and fraud. It was a terrible shock.

Restraint Orders were placed on all our assets and bank accounts and the case was allowed to drift for years, as the police strived to find evidence against us and 5 co – defendants.

In February 2017, we were introduced to Martin Tracy of MWT Legal Ltd. We shall be forever grateful for this introduction.

Having met Martin, we were immediately put at ease as to his pragmatic yet friendly approach to the case. He was always available to speak to during both office hours and at weekends.

In February 2019, we were eventually charged on an indictment containing 15 counts of money laundering and fraud, to the value of £4.6 million.

Martin prepared our case meticulously, making enquiries with relatives and our business associates from abroad and arranging for their attendance through the British High Commission in Lagos.

Martin maintained throughout that there was very little evidence to justify the prosecution and on the 11th February 2020 at Southwark Crown Court, he was proved to be correct, as the prosecution case collapsed with all defendants acquitted. When facing allegations of fraud which were profoundly unjust and untrue, our then solicitors could only recommend that we pleaded guilty at the first opportunity! We didn’t know where to turn!

If you are looking for legal representation in any kind of criminal defence case, then Martin Tracy is your man. We first heard about Martin after he (and Alisdair Williamson QC) had successfully defended someone close to us.

Firstly, Martin really knows his stuff and he immediately put us at ease. He is dedicated, approachable, knowledgeable, empathetic, kind and understanding.

Through a little luck & possibly happenstance, we we were eventually referred to Martin to help with my Son’s charges of kidnap & robbery. Martin is as enthusiastic as he is dogged, & with a great deal of empathy thrown in, we found him to be the perfect advisor. His experience of very serious cases gave us a lot of comfort & was not shy in guiding us when we were stuck.

When one is arrested and facing allegations which are sensitive and delicate, it is the most difficult situation one can find themselves in. One doesn’t know where or who to turn to.

In January 2018, I found myself in this situation and was in great shock. Having spoken with a number of solicitors and barristers, I was not re-assured or had confidence in their representation of me. I made enquiries and spoke with Mr Alisdair Williamson QC at 3 Raymond Buildings in London. Mr Williamson accepted my instructions and recommended that I instruct Martin Tracy at MWT Legal to assist me in preparing my case for trial.

It was perhaps one of the best recommendations I have ever had.

I first met Martin over 3 years ago, at a time when my life had taken a dramatic turn for the worse.

Little did I realise that at that point that he was going to play such a pivotal role.

Allegations made about someone are always hard to understand, but allegations of a sexual nature made by a son against his mother are such that it is almost impossible to comprehend.

From the first time that Martin supported me at a voluntary interview with Surrey police, I felt a level of reassurance.

Over the next 3 years, we discussed intimate details that no one should have to discuss. At no time did I feel embarrassed or uncomfortable discussing this with Martin. His ability to understand how I must be feeling, the injection of humour and total dedication to do the best by me, made an unbearable situation tenable.

I chose to have Martin by my side every step of the way and trusted his judgement and also the judgement of my barrister who Martin works with regularly to see me through the process of preparing for court.

Each day of the trial Martin travelled down to Surrey to be there to support me, to try and keep my spirits up and ultimately to be there to see a not guilty verdict be delivered and for that I cannot thank him enough.

I first met Martin Tracy through the auspices of my employer when my nightmare started in September 2011. Martin came up from London to Manchester at short notice and we met to discuss the events of the previous 72 hours. I was in a state of great shock and disbelief as my world had collapsed around me at the time.

From the start, having explained the case to Martin, he was assured of my innocence and made a promise to me. ‘I will walk you down the steps of the court’. It was a phrase that would be repeated many times over the following 2 years, to such an extent that it became a mantra!

Martin had a way of seeing the case for what it was through the complexities and to translate the legal jargon into language that I could understand. At no time throughout the two years of my dealing with Martin did I have any reason to doubt his ability to prepare, advise and re- assure and ultimately, to walk me down the stairs of Manchester Crown Court.

Martin made a terrifying ordeal seem somehow easier to deal with and was always there when I needed to speak with him. He has great patience and an eye for detail. In 2010 our family had the dreadful news after 48 hours in custody that my son, who was 19, was to be charged with GBH with intent after he protected himself and his best friend when their apartment was broken into.

We were in trouble, real trouble. My son had been accused of committing a sexual assault on a work colleague out of hours and the police were intending to prosecute. The solicitors we had instructed in the first place were not doing a good job and a guilty verdict looked on the cards. Then we were introduced to MWT Legal and Martin and his team at Landsbury Worthington took control. The existing solicitors were dismissed and the case proceeded under Martin’s guidance to a successful conclusion.

After a four-day trial, the case was so well-put together by Martin and Barrister Lucy Organ that it took the jury less than 30 minutes to reach a not guilty verdict.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Martin for all the help and support he has given us over the last eighteen months, when our son found himself charged with two extremely serious offences.

We did not know where to turn for help or what to do when, fortunately, Martin was recommended. We met him at the prison after he had a meeting with our son, who felt he could trust him and was comfortable straight away. He came back to our house to discuss the case and agreed to take it on. When I learned that the police wanted to interview me in connection with allegations of a sexual nature made by a girl whom I had taught thirty years previously, my solicitor had no hesitation in recommending that I contact Martin Tracy. It is a recommendation that I shall always value. At a time of great stress and worry, Martin enabled me to look at the situation calmly and objectively.

Prior to visiting the police station, Martin discussed the matter in detail with me. He also arranged for us to visit the police station on a day convenient for my personal and professional lives. He briefed me about police procedure, including what was involved in an ‘arrest’. On the day in question, he quickly established a good working relationship with the officer in charge of the case and examined the evidence, which he found to be distinctly flimsy. He advised me to sign a short statement drafted by him, denying the charges.

He explained that there would follow a taped interview by the police officer and that I should answer ‘no comment’ to all questions. After this, I was released on police bail and Martin ensured that before we parted I understood fully the conditions of my bail. During the six months that I was on bail, Martin maintained contact with the police officer, giving me regular updates on my case, and he was particularly sensitive, kind and helpful when I was depressed.

Martin was proved right about the allegations because the police decided not to prosecute for lack of evidence – not surprisingly, since there wasn’t any because the allegations were false. Martin was a tower of strength throughout and I might add that although I know he has cases referred to him by some of Britain’s most prestigious law firms, his fees provide excellent value for money.
