Mr T D, March 2024

Nearly four years ago, my life was turned upside down when I was extradited to the UK and charged with three counts of fraud, launching me into a legal and emotional turmoil that I could never have anticipated. It was during this tumultuous time that I had the fortune of being introduced to Martin Tracy, not realising then how crucial a figure he would become in my life.

Facing legal challenges is daunting, especially when compounded by the severe health issues I was suffering and the pain of separation from my family, given my residence outside the UK. From our first meeting, Martin provided not just exceptional advice but an emotional support that became my beacon of hope. His presence was reassuring, a constant in the storm that my life had become.

Throughout the nearly four-year ordeal, Martin's dedication to my case was unwavering. Discussing the intricate details of my case or even my own physical and mental health issues, I never once felt judged or uncomfortable; rather, I was met with empathy, understanding, and someone to lighten the burden I was carrying.

Martin's commitment extended beyond the confines of legal counsel. He was a source of strength for both me and my family, offering support and reassurance through every step of the process. His expertise and strategic approach in preparing for court were matched only by his compassion and understanding of the emotional toll such proceedings take on a person.

I found each court hearing I attended during this period to be extremely stressful and frightening, however, Martin travelled, supported, and stood by me, ensuring I never faced a day alone. After multiple postponements to my trial due to my health and other issues outside of my control, we finally reached a favourable conclusion which allowed me to go to my family immediately. I could not believe the achievement.

In reflecting on this journey, I can unequivocally say that Martin Tracy is more than a legal consultant; he is a compassionate professional, a steadfast supporter, and, most importantly, a pivotal figure in navigating one of the most challenging periods of my life, who I now regard as a dear friend. For anyone facing the daunting prospect of criminal charges, know that in Martin, you will find not just unparalleled legal representation, but a true ally.

Mr Martin Tracy took on my case which related to complex traffic issues. I wish to say he had great communication all through this process and I would give him a 5 star rating for all the help and support that was given to me. Martin made representations to the CPS and the court based upon my extreme health issues and the case was completely. I would not hesitate to use him in the future. Many thanks again, DC

I would like to take this moment to write about Martin Tracy. I got arrested on the 24/04/2021 and first met Martin in the police station. I was put on bail for a month and Martin kept in touch and then I was remanded in custody. Martin went above and beyond to do everything he could to help, this included travelling all the way to Peterborough to visit me and go through my case with me and take my instructions. Martin kept in touch with my family and reassured them about everything which I’m very grateful for. He was kind, caring and very understanding.

I have had the opportunity to see Martin Tracy’s skills in action over more than 15 years, recommending him as the “go to” man for individuals in a range of difficult situations with the police and the criminal courts. It was of course Martin to whom I turned when needing his services in a personal capacity. From his sure and constructive touch in a police station setting, to preparation of court cases and strategic planning drawn from his decades of experience, there is no better person to rely on in difficult and urgent circumstances. He balances a willingness to be combative when required, leaving no stone unturned, with a shrewd tactical sense, in order to bring about the desired result. Martin’s contacts allow access to the best barrister for each case, and his availability at all times and his supportive and reassuring manner are crucial in making him the man you want on your side in any encounter with the criminal justice system. I recommend him unhesitatingly.

In June 2016, my wife and were arrested on allegations of money laundering and fraud. It was a terrible shock. Restraint Orders were placed on all our assets and bank accounts and the case was allowed to drift for years, as the police strived to find evidence against us and 5 co - defendants. In February 2017, we were introduced to Martin Tracy of MWT Legal Ltd. We shall be forever grateful for this introduction. Having met Martin, we were immediately put at ease as to his pragmatic yet friendly approach to the case. He was always available to speak to during both office hours and at weekends. In February 2019, we were eventually charged on an indictment containing 15 counts of money laundering and fraud, to the value of £4.6 million. Martin prepared our case meticulously, making enquiries with relatives and our business associates from abroad and arranging for their attendance through the British High Commission in Lagos. Martin maintained throughout that there was very little evidence to justify the prosecution and on the 11th February 2020 at Southwark Crown Court, he was proved to be correct, as the prosecution case collapsed with all defendants acquitted. Martin and his teams of barristers from 5 Kings Bench Walk and 2 Harcourt Buildings led the way. Restraint Orders have been released and we have our lives back and we firmly believe this is down to the commitment and approach that Martin had in terms of preparing our case. We would have no hesitation in recommending Martin to anybody who finds themselves in the criminal justice system.

When facing allegations of fraud which were profoundly unjust and untrue, our then solicitors could only recommend that we pleaded guilty at the first opportunity! We didn't know where to turn! So on a hunch we approached the Chambers at 9, Gough Square, London. Amongst their recommendations for a Direct Access Solicitor was the name Martin Tracy. Our research showed Martin at MWT Legal to be the very person we needed to take our instructions and prepare the case for the Crown Court. Our choice of Martin proved to be pivotal. Martin immediately recommended that we should have the Barrister, Eleanor Mawrey, at 9 Gough Square Chambers, who specialises in Financial Crime to lead our case. This was an inspired and ideal choice by Martin , and together they made a Formidable and extremely knowledgeable Team. Martin had already identified the significant shortcomings in the Prosecution Case. To have a Solicitor who was always available by phone and very approachable , and always with empathy was so reassuring, Martin has a very unique and personal way of dealing with his clients who are embroiled in the Criminal Justice System. The Prosecution was desperate for a conviction but Martin and Eleanor's tenacity and expertise worked overtime for us and eventually the case was dismissed through a complete lack of evidence at Court before trial. Martin , we thank you very much for bringing our nightmare to a successful conclusion. Mr & Mrs J, October 2019

If you are looking for legal representation in any kind of criminal defence case, then Martin Tracy is your man. We first heard about Martin after he (and Alisdair Williamson QC) had successfully defended someone close to us. Firstly, Martin really knows his stuff and he immediately put us at ease. He is dedicated, approachable, knowledgeable, empathetic, kind and understanding. Martin suggested that we use Mr Williamson QC which we did, and it soon became clear that they are a great team. They worked together very closely, they are hugely respectful of one another, and Martin knew exactly what was required of him in this complex case. We felt comforted and reassured to have them on our side. Martin was always available, day or night, whenever we had questions and concerns. He always managed to find the right words to say and was reassuring when we felt worried and disheartened, and all with a sense of humour! Our particular case was long, drawn out and painful - emotionally, mentally and financially. The prosecution and the Judge were desperate for a conviction but I am delighted to say that my husband was finally acquitted this week after three hellish years and that is all down to Martin and Alisdair. I cannot recommend Martin highly enough. Thank you, Martin, from the bottom of our hearts. Mrs W

Through a little luck & possibly happenstance, we we were eventually referred to Martin to help with my Son's charges of kidnap & robbery. Martin is as enthusiastic as he is dogged, & with a great deal of empathy thrown in, we found him to be the perfect advisor. His experience of very serious cases gave us a lot of comfort & was not shy in guiding us when we were stuck. The barrister he found for the eventual trial was a specialist in child cases & handled my difficult kid with such grace it's not something I'll forget anytime soon. Not guilty on all charges was just a bonus, my review of Martin's work would have been the same either way. Best Regards Martyn Lewis

When one is arrested and facing allegations which are sensitive and delicate, it is the most difficult situation one can find themselves in. One doesn’t know where or who to turn to. In January 2018, I found myself in this situation and was in great shock. Having spoken with a number of solicitors and barristers, I was not re-assured or had confidence in their representation of me. I made enquiries and spoke with Mr Alisdair Williamson QC at 3 Raymond Buildings in London. Mr Williamson accepted my instructions and recommended that I instruct Martin Tracy at MWT Legal to assist me in preparing my case for trial. It was perhaps one of the best recommendations I have ever had. Martin Tracy, travelled to Shrewsbury and Liverpool to see me to make what was a very stressful situation tolerable. He provided confidence, understanding and attention to detail, with a humour that was both comforting as it was disarming. Coupled with his clear understanding of the evidence in the case and guidance in liaising with counsel we successfully defended the allegations in July 2018. I will always be grateful to Mr Williamson QC and Martin Tracy for the way they represented me and would recommend their services without any hesitation. Mr F, July 2018.

I first met Martin over 3 years ago, at a time when my life had taken a dramatic turn for the worse. Little did I realise that at that point that he was going to play such a pivotal role. Allegations made about someone are always hard to understand, but allegations of a sexual nature made by a son against his mother are such that it is almost impossible to comprehend. From the first time that Martin supported me at a voluntary interview with Surrey police, I felt a level of reassurance. Over the next 3 years, we discussed intimate details that no one should have to discuss. At no time did I feel embarrassed or uncomfortable discussing this with Martin. His ability to understand how I must be feeling, the injection of humour and total dedication to do the best by me, made an unbearable situation tenable. I chose to have Martin by my side every step of the way and trusted his judgement and also the judgement of my barrister who Martin works with regularly to see me through the process of preparing for court. Each day of the trial Martin travelled down to Surrey to be there to support me, to try and keep my spirits up and ultimately to be there to see a not guilty verdict be delivered and for that I cannot thank him enough. All I can say to sum up, is that if you ever find yourself in the unenviable position of having to face a charge, you will not find anyone better or more understanding than Martin. 'Ms H May - 2018'
